Founded in 2011, Real Dancing is a small dance school dedicated to providing high quality coaching to our students, ranging from beginners to experienced dancers. We are focused on creating a positive, friendly atmosphere in which dancers can develop under the guidance of award-winning teacher, Karen Creaney.
Karen qualified as a dance teacher with the IDTA in 2009, winning the “John Dilworth Scholarship Award” for outstanding achievement. Out of 764 professional ballroom associate candidates, Karen was recognised for her commitment to teaching and technical excellence.
Soon after, she established her own dance school with the aim of providing high quality dance teaching in a fun environment. She loves taking her students to local dances and helping them develop their style and confidence.
Karen is an NHS doctor and finds that her day job helps with her understanding of dance physiology. Her medical background has always fed through into her work as a dance teacher, achieving high marks in her advanced professional qualifications, and using her understanding of the body to explain movement in new and insightful ways.
